Nigeria’s sprint hurdler, Tobi Amusan, won the bronze medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Thursday, ending her reign as Commonwealth champion.
Amusan, who claimed gold medals at the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, had been aiming to become the first woman to win three consecutive Commonwealth titles in the event.
The 29-year-old crossed the finish line in 12.60 seconds to secure third place.

The gold medal was won by The Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, who clocked 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds claimed silver in 12.41 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Amusan had boosted hopes of retaining her title after delivering a commanding performance in the heats, winning her race in a wind-assisted 12.19 seconds.
Although the time was not eligible for record purposes because of excessive wind assistance, it was the fastest performance ever recorded at the Commonwealth Games under any conditions.
However, Amusan was unable to reproduce that form in the final as Charlton and Simmonds finished ahead of her.
Despite missing out on a historic third consecutive Commonwealth title, the Nigerian extended her impressive record at the Games by securing a third successive podium finish in the women’s 100m hurdles.
