The United States and Iran are set to hold their first round of discussions on implementing a recently signed ceasefire agreement at a meeting scheduled for Friday at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland.
Swiss authorities confirmed on Thursday that preparations were underway for the talks, which are expected to bring together representatives of both countries, mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, and other involved parties.
In a statement, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said the meeting would focus on the practical steps required to enforce and implement the ceasefire agreement reached between Washington and Tehran.

“As things stand, the plan is still for the U.S. and Iran, along with mediators Pakistan and Qatar and other involved countries, to meet tomorrow at Buergenstock for initial negotiations about implementing the agreement,” the ministry stated.
The Swiss government, however, noted that details regarding the timetable, agenda and format of the discussions had yet to be finalised.
The planned talks come shortly after the ceasefire accord signed by the two countries, a move widely seen as a significant step towards easing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region.
