Morocco Announce Three World Cup Warm-Up Matches

Morocco has confirmed that they will play three warm-up matches ahead of next month’s World Cup, giving their new coach more time with his squad.

Morocco, which was a surprise semi-finalist at the World Cup in Qatar four years ago, appointed Mohamed Ouahbi as coach in March following the resignation of Walid Regragui.

Ouahbi has overseen only two matches since taking charge a draw with Ecuador and a victory over Paraguay  just weeks into the role.

Morocco’s football federation said the team will play Burundi on 26 May behind closed doors at their training centre in Salé before facing Madagascar on 2 June in Rabat, where supporters will be able to see the team off.

Once they arrive in the United States, where their base camp will be in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Morocco will conclude their preparations with a match against Norway on 7 June in New York.

The team is expected to begin preparations on 22 May but is likely to name its squad a week later.

Drawn in Group C at the World Cup, Morocco will face Brazil on 13 June in New York, Scotland on 19 June in Boston, and Haiti on 24 June in Atlanta.
