NCoS Declares Prisons Red Zones Ahead of Pro-Kanu Protest

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has declared all correctional centres across the country as Red Zones ahead of the planned nationwide protest calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu on Monday, October 20, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Umar Abubakar, the NCoS warned that correctional facilities are restricted areas and cautioned members of the public to stay away to prevent any security breaches or untoward incidents.

Abubakar emphasised that the move was a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order during the planned demonstrations.

He further urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies and exercise restraint, noting that respecting restricted areas such as correctional centres was essential for peace and national security.
