NABTEB Extends 2026 Technical College Exam Registration

On Wednesday, the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)  conducted a capacity-building workshop for its directorate-level staff, aimed at strengthening institutional Leadership and improving their ability to deliver on its core mandate.

The training, themed“Enhancing the Future of NABTEB,” focused on leadership development, accountability, and institutional sustainability.

In his opening address, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Aminu Muhammed, said the workshop was designed to address key issues critical to the board’s operational success and corporate integrity.

“The timing of this programme is particularly apt because the public service environment is becoming increasingly complex, demanding agility, transparency, and strategic foresight,” he said.

Dr. Muhammed emphasized the growing demand for public institutions to uphold high standards of accountability and professionalism, adding that NABTEB must not only align with this expectation but also lead by example.

He noted that the theme of the training was deliberately chosen to reflect the board’s ongoing commitment to institutional development and leadership renewal.

“The lessons from this training will help our directors demonstrate greater commitment and honesty in discharging their responsibilities systemwide, and drive further development within NABTEB,” he said.

On addressing corruption and ethical lapses in public service, Dr. Muhammed warned that even a single lapse in leadership judgment could tarnish years of public service.

“This is why ethics, transparency, and accountability must remain at the heart of our leadership model,” he stressed.

He also highlighted communication and documentation challenges within the board:

“In report writing and communication, I’ve noticed, not too pleasantly, that the board has issues with documentation. As directors, your ability to document and communicate effectively cannot be overstated. It shapes decision-making at every level.”

According to him, the training is part of a broader vision to reposition NABTEB for greater relevance, impact, and credibility within Nigeria and on the global examinations landscape.

“As senior managers, policymakers, and implementers, you represent the leadership backbone of NABTEB. It is only fitting that we continuously invest in your growth, knowledge, and capacity to lead with insight, integrity, and innovation,” he added.

Dr. Muhammed expressed confidence that at the end of the training, NABTEB would emerge better informed, better equipped, and more prepared to steer the agency to greater heights.

In her goodwill message, Teni Ajayi, Zonal Director of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Benin, described the training as a key step in self-discovery, skill enhancement, and strategic planning.

“This exercise will propel NABTEB to new heights. It will also strengthen its role in Nigeria’s education system, especially in promoting technical and vocational education, assessing students’ skills, and providing certifications that improve employability,” she said.

Ajayi expressed optimism about continued collaboration between NTA Benin and NABTEB, leveraging their shared passion for excellence, creativity, and nation-building.

Also speaking, Mr. Henry Johnson, in his opening remarks, described the workshop as a milestone in NABTEB’s journey towards institutional and leadership accountability.

He urged participants to see the training not as a mere refresher course, but as a renewed commitment to the ideals of excellence, integrity, and professionalism.
