Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has fulfilled his promise to provide a 2.5MVA injection substation to the Udomi community in Esan Central Local Government Area.

Okpebholo, who inspected the completed project on Monday in Udomi alongside top government officials, expressed satisfaction that the facility was now ready to supply power to the community and its environs.

The governor noted that the people had never witnessed such infrastructure, adding that the project would enhance development and connect neighbouring communities to a stable electricity supply.

Okpebholo emphasised his delight in bringing tangible change, stating that the people were finally experiencing the impact of governance at their doorstep.

He pledged that his administration would continue to implement meaningful projects across the state.

Reaffirming his alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Okpebholo promised further infrastructural development to improve lives and drive inclusive growth.

He highlighted the economic benefits of the new substation, saying it would stimulate local business activity by providing reliable power.

The governor also inspected the ongoing construction of the new Edo State College of Nursing, Health Sciences, and Technology, located in Udomi.

He thanked the Edo State House of Assembly for supporting the bill that enabled the project’s approval and commencement.

Okpebholo said, Work is progressing steadily; I assure residents of more impactful projects in education, health, and infrastructure.”

Responding, Mr Mokwenye Jidenmah, Business Head at the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, commended the governor’s efforts and confirmed that multiple communities would benefit from the enhanced power supply.

He explained that the substation would step down a 33KVA line to 11KVA, thereby energising more than nine transformers to deliver electricity across Udomi and surrounding areas.

“The second phase of the electricity project will link six communities, including Udomi 1, Ujabhole 1, Unogbo, Idimoghodor, Ibhioloulu, and Afuda,” Jidenmah said.
