2027 Governorship Bid: Deputy Senate President Gets Youth Endorsement

A coalition of youth associations in Kano State has called on Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement was made during a grand gathering in Kano, where over 90 youth groups from across the state and the Northwest region converged to celebrate Senator Jibrin’s achievements and leadership record.

Chairman of the Northwest Development Commission, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Maaji, described the Deputy Senate President as a visionary leader dedicated to the welfare and progress of his people. He said Jibrin’s development-focused initiatives have earned him widespread admiration across the region.

Representing the lawmaker at the event, his Chief of Staff, Professor Mohammad Ibn Abdallah, listed several projects facilitated by Senator Jibrin, including the establishment of the Federal University of Education in Kano, the Federal University of Technology in Kabo, and a solar power project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

He also cited the implementation of the Renewed Hope housing projects in Kano as part of the senator’s contributions to improving infrastructure and social welfare.

“People in Kano, both within and outside the APC, are calling for Senator Barau to contest for the governorship in 2027. The numerous projects he has brought to Kano and Northern Nigeria speak volumes of his commitment to development,” Abdallah stated.

He added that Senator Jibrin would give due consideration to the appeal of his supporters at the appropriate time.

The coalition of youth groups pledged to mobilise broad-based support for the Deputy Senate President should he decide to vie for the governorship position in 2027.
