2026 Electoral Act: INEC Sensitises Plateau Stakeholders

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday organised a one-day sensitisation workshop on the 2026 Electoral Act for election stakeholders in Plateau.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Sam Egwu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) described the exercise as timely.

Egwu said that the training is geared towards ensuring free, fair and credible elections in 2027.

According to him, the exercise would enable participants to acquire basic but necessary knowledge on the new Electoral Act.

“This training is not just timely but necessary, as the general elections are around the corner.

“We have invited critical stakeholders to this activity to acquaint you with the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act.

“This is part of our commitment towards ensuring free, fair and credible elections in 2027,” he said.

Participants at the training included staff of INEC, representatives of political parties, religious bodies, security agencies, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), among others.
