Senator Karimi Unveils ₦300m Scholarship Scheme for 3,000 Kogi Students

Senator Sunday Karimi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Kogi West, has unveiled a ₦300 million scholarship scheme for 3,000 Kogi students in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The senator confirmed this during a press briefing at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja on Saturday.

The event marked his second year in office and featured a comprehensive account of his achievements and ongoing projects.

Karimi stated that the scholarship would benefit students from all three senatorial districts in Kogi State. ₦100 million is allocated to Kogi East, ₦61 million to Kogi Central, and ₦139 million to Kogi West. He noted that the initiative is in partnership with the Tinubu Support Group and the 2025 Karimi Bursary Award.

In 2024, he had previously disbursed ₦100 million in scholarships to 1,000 students in Kogi West.

The senator is also investing ₦160 million in a Computer-Based Training (CBT) centre at Titcombe College, Egbe.

The CBT facility is intended to serve students across Kogi West and neighbouring states. Already, 275 laptops have been provided, alongside other key infrastructure for the centre.

Karimi also plans to construct another CBT centre in Yagba, valued at over ₦250 million. He highlighted his contributions to security and infrastructure, including the provision of transformers and solar streetlights for 500 communities.

Karimi reported the rehabilitation of 140 boreholes and road projects valued at over ₦2 billion, to boost security, he established a Forward Operations Base on the Kogi-Kwara border, costing more than ₦750 million. His empowerment drives include ₦100 million for women and another ₦60 million for various local beneficiaries.

“These efforts show my resolve to improve lives and promote economic growth in Kogi West,” he said.

Karimi reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more projects and sustaining democratic dividends for his constituents. He praised President Bola Tinubu’s reforms and pledged unwavering support for national development initiatives.
