In a move aimed at enhancing public service delivery and ensuring more efficient budget implementation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate review of public procurement thresholds for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.

The decision, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, follows recommendations from the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr Adebowale A. Adedokun.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Public Relations at the BPP, Zira Zakka Nagga, the revised thresholds are designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the award and execution of public contracts.

President Tinubu has approved the immediate implementation of the revised procurement thresholds for MDAs,” Nagga said. This approval is based on the recommendation of the DG, BPP, to align with Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The details of the implementation guidelines will be provided by the DG, Dr Adebowale A. Adedokun.”

The BPP noted that the development represents a significant stride in the reform of Nigeria’s procurement processes, tailored to meet the country’s evolving economic landscape.

Dr Adedokun described the reform as “A major step towards streamlining procurement procedures and enhancing value for money across government projects.”

The new procurement thresholds are expected to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and accelerate project delivery, while ensuring strict compliance with due process and financial regulations.
