The Oyo State Government has renewed momentum on its environmental sustainability agenda with an inspection tour of a planned 44-acre Waste-to-Wealth development site in Elere Village along the Ido–Eruwa corridor in Ibadan.
The visit forms part of the state’s broader strategy to introduce modern waste management systems across local communities and convert everyday waste into viable economic resources. Officials say the project is expected to support cleaner surroundings while creating opportunities in renewable energy, agriculture, and allied sectors.

Led by senior officials from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the assessment focused on determining the site’s suitability, environmental impact readiness, and alignment with global best practices for waste conversion facilities.
The Waste-to-Wealth project is envisioned to transform municipal waste into multiple value-added products, including energy, compost, and recyclable materials, thereby reducing pressure on traditional landfills and improving public health.
Government representatives noted that the initiative underscores Oyo State’s commitment to community-driven environmental reforms, while also contributing to job creation and long-term economic growth.
