The Nigerian Government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Benin to enhance local cross-border cooperation.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director-General of the National Boundary Commission (NBC), Adamu Adaji, who led the Nigerian delegation, explained that the agreement is aimed at strengthening collaboration on cross-border security, fostering socio-economic development, and expediting the delimitation and demarcation of boundaries, among other objectives.

The Nigerian delegation included representatives from the National Boundary Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Ministry of Justice, the Nigerian Embassy in Cotonou, relevant security agencies, as well as chairmen of border local government areas along the Nigeria–Benin international boundary.
