Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has congratulated former Military President, retired General Ibrahim Babangida, on his 85th birthday, describing him as a prominent statesman whose contributions continue to shape Nigeria’s political history.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, in Katsina on Monday, Radda praised Babangida for his years of service and leadership.
The governor highlighted Babangida’s role in the creation of Katsina State on September 23, 1987, alongside Akwa Ibom State, saying the decision provided the people with greater opportunities for development.
Radda said the people of Katsina would continue to remember Babangida for giving the state its distinct identity and creating an avenue for residents to determine their own development priorities.

He described the creation of Katsina State as one of the significant moments in the state’s history.
Radda further noted that Babangida remained an important national figure whose contributions had earned him a lasting place in Nigeria’s history.
The governor joined Babangida’s family, friends and Nigerians in celebrating his birthday and expressed gratitude to God for his years of service to the country.
He prayed for the former military leader’s continued good health, peace and many more years of blessings.
