The Education Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has denied allegations that students in schools within the FCT are being indoctrinated into a particular religion against their will.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Head of Information and Public Relations at the Secretariat, Malam Kabiru Musa, described the claims as false and misleading.
According to report, an unidentified teacher had circulated a voice note alleging that students in some FCT schools were being forced to convert to another religion against their will.

Musa clarified that the voice note, which was recorded in Hausa, falsely implicated FCT schools in acts of religious indoctrination. According to him, investigations revealed that the schools mentioned Government Secondary School (GSS) Mararaba, GSS Bakin Ado, GSS Kurunduma, and Aunty Alice Schoola located in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, and not within the FCT.
“We wish to state categorically that the claims in the said audio are entirely false, baseless, and deliberately intended to mislead,” Musa said. “Such divisive and harmful narratives, designed to destabilise our education system and incite religious tension, will not be tolerated.”
He warned that the FCTA reserves the right to pursue legal and administrative action against individuals or groups spreading false information about its schools or operations.
Musa emphasised that schools in the FCT are secular institutions where students of different religious backgrounds coexist peacefully. He added that the FCT Administration remains committed to protecting the right of every child to an education free from religious discrimination or coercion.
“Our teachers and school administrators are trained professionals who uphold ethical standards and are committed to raising responsible and disciplined citizens without bias,” he stated.
He further highlighted ongoing reforms in the FCT education sector under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, including large-scale renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and improved ICT facilities across schools in all six area councils.
The Secretariat, led by Mandate Secretary Dr Danlami Hayyo, has also introduced robust monitoring and feedback systems to ensure that FCT schools maintain high standards of excellence, discipline, and inclusivity.
