The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa, has reiterated his resolve to enhance learning outcomes across Nigeria, while expressing deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for bestowing upon him the prestigious national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Director of Press, Boriowo Folashade, Dr Alausa described the recognition as both a reflection of the President’s confidence in the ministry’s reform efforts and a testament to the Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritises education, youth empowerment, and digital inclusion as key drivers of national development.
Dr Alausa praised President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and highlighted transformative interventions such as “the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), as well as the administration’s commitment to expanding opportunities for young people through Technical and Vocational Education Training, among others. These interventions are pivotal in ensuring Nigerian youth are not just job-ready, but future-ready.”

He also commended the administration’s digital infrastructure drive, saying, “I also applaud the President’s ambitious project to lay fibre optic cables across the nation an initiative that promises to revolutionise digital learning, bridge the connectivity gap, and position Nigeria’s youth to thrive in a competitive global economy.”
The minister reaffirmed his commitment to deepening reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes, encouraging innovation, and promoting inclusive access to quality education. He described the national honour as a renewed call to serve with greater dedication and to help shape a knowledge-based future for Nigeria.
Dr Alausa further extended his gratitude to President Tinubu for his sustained support for education and for steering the country towards a more inclusive, forward-looking, and digitally driven future.
In a related development, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Abel Enitan, and the entire staff of the Federal Ministry of Education have congratulated Dr Alausa on the conferment of the CON honour.
Professor Suwaiba described the recognition as a celebration of Dr Alausa’s “exceptional leadership, integrity, and dedication to national service”, noting that it underscores the crucial role of education in the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
