The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Lami Ogenyi, has won the All-Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Ado State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Returning Officer, Abraham Akaater, while submitting the result on Thursday to the Governorship/State Assembly Primary Election Committee in Makurdi, said Ogenyi scored the highest number of votes cast in the primary election.
Akaater stated that the deputy speaker polled 7,132 votes to defeat three other contestants in the race.
According to him, Mr Mark Ochoga scored 264 votes, and Dickson Otokpa polled 180 votes, while Mr Godswill Iduh secured 143 votes.
He added that a total of 8,767 votes were cast during the exercise.
The returning officer, therefore, declared Ogenyi the winner of the primary election, having satisfied all requirements of the Electoral Act and the APC guidelines.
