Akwa Ibom Council Approves ₦1.39 Trillion 2026 Budget

Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has inaugurated the 10.4km Uyo–Ukpom Abak Road as part of his administration’s efforts to connect rural communities to the state capital.

Speaking at the inauguration on Thursday, Eno said the road construction fulfilled his campaign promise to complete uncompleted projects initiated by his predecessors.

“This project was initiated by the administration of my political father, Mr Udom Emmanuel, and we promised to complete it. Today, we are here to fulfil that promise because governance is a continuum.

“We are committed to linking our rural communities to the centre, just as we continue connecting the centre of our state to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“This project would not have been possible without the support of President Bola Tinubu, who ensured funds were released to our state for the completion of projects,” Eno said.

The governor reaffirmed the state’s full support for President Tinubu’s administration and expressed confidence that the President would be re-elected in 2027 for a second term.

He commended the management of Amitec Construction Company and the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, for taking up the challenge to restore the road to a desirable standard.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Uyo Local Government, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, thanked the governor for keeping his campaign promise to the people.

Udo noted that the road had long been in a deplorable state and served as a major diversion route during the construction of the Abak Road flyover.

He praised the governor for redeeming his promises, describing the development as a clear demonstration of democracy in action.

In his remarks, the member representing Abak Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Clement Jimbo, applauded the governor for his foresight and vision in completing the project for the benefit of the people.
