Yemen’s armed forces aligned with the internationally recognised government said early on Sunday that they were conducting strikes against Iran-aligned Houthi forces in the capital, Sanaa, and the group’s stronghold in Saada.
A military spokesperson said the forces were targeting what he described as “vital targets” but provided no further details.
Houthi-run Al Masirah TV earlier reported an attack on Sanaa, which it said was carried out by Saudi Arabia. Riyadh did not immediately confirm the report.

Fighting between the Iran-backed Houthis and forces aligned with the Saudi-backed government largely subsided after a 2022 truce but has resumed amid the wider conflict between Iran and the United States.
Hostilities intensified this year after the Houthis declared a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in July and began attacking Saudi territory and shipping. The group has also made significant territorial gains along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.
Saudi Arabia has responded with air strikes in Yemen while supporting government forces seeking to push back the Houthis.
