The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals is targeting up to 10 million Nigerian investors for its much-anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO), scheduled to open on September 14, 2026.
The company said the offering would enable millions of Nigerians to acquire shares through a secure, technology-driven subscription platform integrated with the Bank Verification Number (BVN) system.
According to the refinery, the BVN-enabled platform is designed to simplify the investment process by allowing eligible investors across the country to subscribe to the offer seamlessly and securely.
The system is expected to remove some of the traditional barriers associated with equity investment and make share ownership more accessible to both first-time investors and experienced participants in the capital market.

Speaking at the IPO signing ceremony, the Founder and President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, said the offering reflected the company’s commitment to inclusive prosperity, wider ownership and long-term national economic development.
Dangote described the IPO as an opportunity for Nigerians to become part-owners of the refinery, which he said was playing a significant role in transforming Africa’s energy landscape.
He said the use of BVN integration and digital application channels would open participation to millions of Nigerians and allow them to benefit from the growth of the strategic asset.
The offering is expected to rank among the largest equity transactions in the history of Nigeria’s capital market.
To cater for potentially strong demand, the transaction includes an overallotment option of up to 30 per cent of the offer size.
Subject to the completion of the offering and receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the company’s shares will be listed on the Main Board of Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
