President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointments of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.
The renewed appointments will take effect on October 20, 2026, following the completion of their first three-year terms, which began on October 20, 2023.
Dembos, who is from Yola in Adamawa State, previously served as the National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).
He began his career with the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme in 1989. He later held several positions within the organisation, including General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano.
Before his retirement in 2017, Dembos served as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre. He also previously worked as Executive Director of Marketing at the NTA.
Ali, a veteran journalist and media executive, has more than three decades of experience in the industry. His professional interests include media development, content creation and the transformation of news delivery in the digital era.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University.
Tinubu directed both executives to build on their achievements and remain committed to the mandates of their respective organisations.
He also charged them to support the objectives of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President’s directive was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
