President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said the sustained implementation of his administration’s economic reforms has stabilised Nigeria’s economy, laying the foundation for long-term growth and improved living standards.
The President made the remarks on Thursday while receiving a delegation of North-East stakeholders led by the Governor of Borno State and Chairman of the North-East Governors’ Forum, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, at the State House, Abuja.
Tinubu commended state governments for supporting the implementation of the administration’s reforms and urged governors to consolidate the gains by ensuring that citizens understand and benefit from the country’s economic transformation.
“The economy is already stabilised. To many of the governors here present, I want to say thank you very much, and I want to charge you to do more. The golden era is here now. Nigerians are not asking for too much: simple stability, social welfare,” the President said.

He also called for sustained unity among political leaders and communities in the North-East to strengthen the fight against terrorism and banditry while accelerating the region’s socio-economic development.
The President said his administration was addressing long-standing challenges inherited from previous governments, including outstanding pension obligations.
“I promise you, through the twists and turns of this democracy, Nigeria will survive, and I will find, in our unity in diversity, a good path for democratic stability and prosperity in the country. I promise you we’ll do our best,” he said.
Tinubu thanked leaders and traditional rulers from the region for their continued support, paying special tribute to the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Umar Garbai Al-Kanemi, and elder statesman Ambassador Babagana Kingibe.
Earlier, Zulum said the delegation was at the Presidential Villa to express appreciation for Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
He reaffirmed the North-East’s support for the Tinubu administration and pledged to mobilise grassroots backing for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the polls.
