AU Agenda 2063 Mission Advances Africa Digital Peace Solutions

The Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing peace and security across the continent through innovative digital solutions.

This was contained in a statement issued after a high-level courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security at the African Union Commission, Amb. Bankole Adeoye, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday.

The mission, led by its Global President, Stephen Ben-Joel, said the use of digital tools for peacebuilding aligns with the African Union’s “Silencing the Guns” initiative under Agenda 2063.

It also emphasised the growing importance of technology in addressing Africa’s complex security challenges.

Central to the engagement was the presentation of the Community Peace Monitor (CPM), a flagship ICT platform designed to strengthen early warning systems and improve community-based intelligence gathering across AU member states.

Ben-Joel explained that the CPM uses digital tools to provide real-time data, enabling quicker responses to emerging security threats while encouraging grassroots participation in peacebuilding.

“The initiative aligns with continental priorities to prevent conflict, mitigate risks, and sustain peace through proactive engagement,” he said.

He added that integrating technology into peace and security frameworks is essential for achieving the aspirations of Agenda 2063, particularly in building a peaceful and secure Africa driven by innovation and collaboration.

The mission further noted that discussions focused on how digital platforms like CPM can support policy implementation within the AU peace architecture, ensuring data-driven decision-making at national and regional levels.

In his response, Amb. Adeoye commended the initiative, describing technology-driven solutions as vital to modern conflict prevention and consistent with AU efforts to silence the guns across Africa.

He also expressed readiness to collaborate with the mission to scale the initiative and integrate it into broader continental peace and security frameworks.

As part of the engagement, the mission announced plans for an intra-African tour aimed at promoting digital innovation in governance, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

The visit also featured the presentation of an award of excellence to Amb. Adeoye in recognition of his contributions to peace and stability on the continent.

The mission said the engagement reflects a growing partnership with the African Union, anchored on leveraging technology to promote sustainable peace and accelerate the realisation of Agenda 2063, the AU’s long-term development framework aimed at transforming Africa into a globally competitive and integrated continent.
