Tinubu Nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister Of State Finance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka, who will now serve as Minister of State at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning her third portfolio in the administration.

A statement from the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, said the President conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Prior to this appointment, Oyedele, a native of Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, a body responsible for overhauling Nigeria’s tax system.

At 50, Oyedele brings extensive expertise as an economist, accountant, and public policy professional. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology, and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School, enhancing his expertise in finance and public policy.

Oyedele’s professional career spans 22 years at PwC, where he joined in 2001 and rose to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

In addition to his corporate experience, he contributes to academia as a professor at Babcock University, Ogun State, and serves as a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
