The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has emerged as the Global Public Relations Association of the Year.
The announcement was made at the 2025 World Public Relations and Communication Awards organised by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management. The event took place in Lisbon, Portugal, after a rigorous selection process that featured 89 submissions from 19 countries.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Public Relations, Duke Imandu, the Institute said the honour recognises its leadership in professional regulation, reputation management, enforcement of ethical standards, advocacy for strategic communication, and its reform-oriented efforts aimed at repositioning public relations as a catalyst for national development.
Responding to the development, NIPR Acting President, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, described the award as a significant global validation of Nigeria’s professionalism and excellence in the field of public relations.

“This is not just a trophy. It is evidence that disciplined reform and institutional courage yield results. Nigeria is no longer observing global reputation conversations from the sidelines; we are influencing them,” he said.
Professor Dandaura also commended the NIPR President, Dr Ike Neliaku, for providing visionary and purposeful leadership that has strengthened the Institute’s national relevance and enhanced its international standing.
He further congratulated Chain Reactions, an NIPR member-agency, for winning the “Internal Communication Campaign” category with its entry titled ‘Next Era of Happiness: Managing Change and Employee’.
The Acting President acknowledged the efforts of past leaders who established the Institute’s strong foundation, current Council members who have sustained the reform momentum, and young professionals across the country who continue to shape the future of strategic communication.
The Global Alliance Awards honour excellence in public relations and communication worldwide, celebrating innovation, impact, ethical practice and professional growth across sectors.
The awards will be formally presented at the Global Alliance World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026, scheduled to hold from 15 to 21 November 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria.
