Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembélé has been named FIFA Men’s Player of the Year, while Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí claimed the women’s award for the third consecutive year at a ceremony held in Doha .
Dembélé capped a remarkable season by leading PSG to their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, scoring 35 goals across all competitions. His tally included 21 Ligue 1 goals, making him the league’s top scorer as PSG completed a dominant domestic campaign and reached the Club World Cup final.
The 28-year-old, who also won the Ballon d’Or in September, attended the ceremony while in Qatar ahead of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final clash with Flamengo.
“I want to thank all my teammates. It just shows that hard work pays off,” Dembélé said. “It’s been a fantastic year for me, both individually and collectively. I hope to come back here again next year.”
Bonmatí continued her dominance in women’s football after also winning the Women’s Ballon d’Or for a third straight time. The 27-year-old helped Barcelona secure a domestic treble and reach the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, while starring for Spain at Euro 2025, where she was named Player of the Tournament despite losing the final to England on penalties.
“Thank you to the players, coaches and fans who have voted for me to win this award,” said Bonmatí, who is currently recovering from surgery on a fractured fibula.
England manager Sarina Wiegman won the Best Women’s Coach award for the fifth time after guiding the Lionesses to a successful European Championship title defence. Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was named Best Men’s Coach following PSG’s historic Champions League triumph.
England and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton received the Best Women’s Goalkeeper award after playing a key role in England’s Euro 2025 success and Chelsea’s domestic treble. Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, now with Manchester City, won the Men’s Goalkeeper award for his contributions to PSG’s treble-winning season.
