Championship side Southampton have sacked men’s first-team manager Will Still after just five months in charge, following a poor run of results that left the club in the relegation zone.
The 33-year-old coach, who joined from French side Lens in May, collected only 12 points from 13 matches, leaving Southampton 21st in the table.
In a statement, the club thanked Still for his commitment but said the team’s progress had not met expectations.
“Ultimately, that process has taken longer than any of us would have liked. By making a change now, we believe it gives us the best chance of turning things around this season and climbing back up the league table,” the club said.

Alongside Still, Southampton also confirmed the departure of coaching staff members Rubén Martínez, Clément Lemaitre and Carl Martin.
Under-21 head coach Tonda Eckert will take interim charge while the club begins the search for a permanent replacement.
