The Nigeria Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has deployed 22 new volunteers to The Gambia as part of its continued efforts to support partner nations through technical assistance.

The deployment was announced by NTAC Director-General, Mr. Yusuf Buba Yakub, during a transition ceremony held in Abuja, which also marked the return of 15 volunteers from the same country.

Mr Yakub said NTAC remains committed to the welfare of all volunteers engaged in its biennial programmes across the globe, stressing that every kobo spent on the initiative is invested in Nigerian citizens serving internationally.

He said the scheme enhances Nigeria’s global credibility and influence, while aligning with the current administration’s 4D foreign policy, particularly the pillar of development, under which the NTAC scheme operates.

Mr Yakub appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support and commended the returning volunteers for their resilience and contributions. He said they not only supported development efforts in The Gambia but also acquired valuable experience for Nigeria’s advancement.

The NTAC Director-General urged the outgoing 22-member team to serve with dignity, describing them as ambassadors of Nigeria, and assured them of government support in terms of allowances and welfare.

The Team Leader of the returning volunteers, Professor Joseph Kur, thanked the Nigerian government for the opportunity to serve.

Team Lead of the new set of volunteers, Professor Abubakar Kundiri, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and NTAC leadership for selecting them to serve, and pledged that the team would serve with honour and dignity.

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps was established to share Nigeria’s expertise with African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries. Now in its 38th year, the scheme continues to promote development and international cooperation.
