Legendary American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Stevie Wonder, has been named the Greatest R&B Artist of All Time by Billboard.
The music publication unveiled its list as part of a special ranking celebrating the most influential and commercially successful acts in rhythm and blues history.
Stevie Wonder, whose career spans more than six decades, secured the top R&B position and ranked third overall in Billboard’s all-time artist list surpassed only by Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson.
With a record 22 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s R&B chart and numerous genre-defining albums, Wonder’s contribution to soul, funk, and R&B is widely regarded as unparalleled. His seminal works, including Songs in the Key of Life, Talking Book, and Innervisions, helped shape the sound of modern R&B while addressing social and political issues through music.

Over the course of his career, Wonder has won 25 Grammy Awards the most by any male solo artist as well as an Academy Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide and remains a central figure in global music culture.
Billboard praised Wonder’s enduring influence, innovation, and unmatched musical legacy, stating that his body of work continues to resonate across generations.
The publication’s list also featured other icons such as Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Aretha Franklin, reflecting the rich legacy and evolving sound of R&B.
