Russia’s Kamchatka Region Hit by Shallow 7.1 Earthquake

A Powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck near the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka region on Saturday, September 13, 2025, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.

The quake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres (6.2 miles), a factor that may increase its potential impact on the surface.

As of the latest reports, there have been no confirmed casualties or damage linked to the tremor.

Kamchatka, located in Russia’s Far East, lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a zone notorious for frequent seismic activity and volcanic eruptions.
