The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have intensified their partnership to address threats to power installations in Jigawa State.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the NSCDC spokesperson in Jigawa, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, in Dutse.
Tijjani explained that, in line with the Corps’ mandate to safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), the NSCDC State Commandant, Mr Bala Bodinga, had facilitated a strategic collaboration with the TCN to tackle acts of vandalism and related security challenges.
He noted that the partnership would adopt both scientific and tactical approaches to ensure the protection of power infrastructure.
During a technical engagement at the NSCDC state headquarters, Bodinga reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to securing transmission lines, substations and other installations to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.

The commandant described the protection of TCN infrastructure as a national priority, citing electricity as central to Nigeria’s economic development.
“This partnership with TCN is strategic,” he stated. “It integrates intelligence gathering, operational visibility and community-based surveillance, alongside the deployment of personnel to identified flashpoints. Our Anti-Vandal Unit and Intelligence Department remain on high alert to proactively prevent any acts of sabotage.”
According to Tijjani, the command has activated surveillance and monitoring mechanisms along TCN transmission lines, with increased patrols in vulnerable areas across Dutse, Birnin-Kudu, Hadejia, Gumel and Kazaure.
In his remarks, Mr Ahmad Abubakar, TCN’s Senior Manager for Human Resources in Jigawa, commended the NSCDC’s proactive stance, saying the partnership would significantly reduce vandalism and improve response to threats against national grid components.
He also reaffirmed TCN’s readiness to support the collaboration through intelligence sharing, technical assistance and joint field assessments.
