The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has stepped down from his position.
Egbetokun, whose tenure was extended by one year in 2025 by President Bola Tinubu, submitted his resignation on Tuesday, citing personal and family reasons.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development to journalists, adding that an official statement would be issued later in the day.
The resignation brings an end to Egbetokun’s tenure as the nation’s top police officer, and further details are expected in the forthcoming official announcement.
