NNPC Ex-CFO Declares Senate Bid for Sokoto East 2027

The Former Chief Financial Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Umar Ajiyan-Isa, has formally declared his intention to contest the Sokoto East Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ajiyan-Isa made the declaration during a consultation meeting with APC executives, stakeholders and other loyalists from eight local government areas of Sokoto-East senatorial zone.

He said the decision followed sustained calls from party leaders, political associates, and constituents across the district’s urging him to join the race.

According to him, the decision was driven by a commitment to deliver purposeful and impactful representation for the people of Sokoto East.

“This declaration is not driven by personal ambition or self-aggrandizement but by a sincere commitment to uplift the people of Sokoto East through effective representation.

” I accepted the move to facilitate development in our areas, I determined contribute on more empowerment initiatives as our people engaged on farming and other businesses.

” I will support on ending security challenges as most of our areas were affected by insecurity, facing difficulties on reaching places and some citizens displaced,” he said.

He appealed to supporters, stakeholders, party faithful, and the good people of Sokoto East to shun politics of bitterness and embrace issue-based engagement.

“Let us work together in peace and unity for the progress of our area, Sokoto State, and Nigeria at large,” he added.

He appreciated the people of Sokoto East Senatorial District for their support and confidence in him.

In his remarks, the APC Zonal Vice Chairman in charge of Sokoto East Senatorial District, Alhaji Musa Sarkin-Alaro, described as a calling for transformation in the zone.

Sarkin-Alaro said the move was purely people initiated as we considered plight of citizens and person worthy to anchor peoples interests to uplift peoples plights.
