Nigeria and Spain have reinforced strategic dialogue on security and policy issues, recognising the importance of collaboration with research and policy institutions to understand geopolitical shifts in the West African region and beyond.
On the sidelines of the Annual Conference of Ambassadors, Hon. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Miguel Ángel Ballesteros Martín, Spanish Brigadier General and former Director of CESEDEN. Discussions focused on developments in the Sahel and Europe, Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts, and the country’s position in an increasingly multipolar world.
The officials also explored opportunities for cooperation between Spanish and Nigerian think tanks, emphasising the value of sustained policy dialogue and shared analysis in addressing emerging security and geopolitical challenges.
