The Nigerian Government has condemned the deadly shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, which targeted members of the Jewish community, leaving at least fifteen people dead and several others injured.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Nigeria extended its condolences to the Government and people of Australia, as well as to the families of the victims, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The Government described the attack as “a senseless act of violence” and expressed solidarity with all those affected.
“Nigeria’s stance is that terrorism, violent extremism, and hate-motivated attacks pose serious global threats. We call for stronger international cooperation to combat terrorism, anti-Semitism, and all forms of violent hatred,” the statement reads.
The Government further reaffirmed its commitment to global peace and security, stressing that no community should be targeted on the basis of religion, ethnicity, or identity, and pledged continued support for international efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
