NIDO Worldwide Mourns Buhari, Condoles Nigerians

Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation Worldwide (NIDO-WW) have condoled with Nigerians at home and abroad over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Coordinating Chairman of NIDO-WW, Mr Chibuzo Ubochi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday following the passing of the former president.

Buhari died at the age of 82 on Sunday, 13 July 2025, at a hospital in London after a protracted illness.

Ubochi, who also serves as Chairman of NIDO Europe, described Buhari as a leader who devoted his life to advancing Nigeria’s growth.

“NIDO-WW joins all Nigerians at home and abroad to mourn the loss of a true patriot a soldier and leader who devoted his life to the service of Nigeria.

“In 2023, President Buhari oversaw the peaceful transfer of power to another civilian administration, fulfilling a promise he made while in office and reinforcing Nigeria’s democratic consolidation.

“This singular act of handover deserves gratitude and respect. We honour the memory of a patriot, a disciplinarian, and a democrat.

“To Nigerians in the diaspora, one of his enduring contributions was his assent to the NiDCOM Act  a watershed moment that affirmed our value in Nigeria’s governance.

“Since then, the diaspora has felt recognised, welcomed, and included. Though he is gone, this legacy endures in the hearts of Nigerians in the diaspora. Rest in peace, President Buhari,” Ubochi stated.

NIDO-WW is an organisation that unites Nigerians across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. It advocates for diaspora interests, supports national development, and harnesses global expertise to build a stronger Nigeria.
